The Anritsu A Series is a configurable range of contact temperature probes for stationary surfaces. Select the sensing head, guard and shaft arrangement to suit the target, access space and operating temperature.
For routine surface checks, the important starting point is how the sensing element will contact the surface. A larger head requires more clear contact area, while a smaller head can suit a more confined measurement point. The selected guard construction determines the temperature rating.

The A Series uses a conventional fixed-head arrangement. The Anritsu AX Series flexible-head surface probe adds a contact-support mechanism with ±4° movement, helping the head maintain contact when the holding angle changes slightly.

AX is an alternative to compare, not an automatic replacement for every A Series configuration. Its contact-support mechanism can help reduce contact error, but does not give a tighter published sensor tolerance. Check head size, reach, clearance, temperature rating and connector before changing series.

An asterisk represents another model-code digit. Temperature limits apply to the sensing head in contact with the target; the grip, cable and plug have separate limits.

The ordering code identifies the head diameter, guard construction, shaft shape, thermocouple, shaft length, grip, cable and termination. For example, A-231K-01-1-TC1-ANP specifies a 15 mm head, stainless steel guard, straight shaft, Type K thermocouple, 100 mm shaft, standard grip, 1 metre TC cable and ANP miniature plug.
Shaft options include straight, 45° and several 90° or elbow arrangements. Length code 00 represents 30 mm and 01 represents 100 mm. Standard-grip code is 1; gripless code is 0. Confirm manufacturability of the complete combination, particularly short, angled, gripless and high-temperature assemblies.

Tolerance and response are specified on stationary, flat, smooth metal surfaces. Response time means the time to reach 99% of the true value. Durability testing uses a 300°C surface, or the model’s upper limit where lower, while maintaining tolerance.
Actual readings also depend on contact, surface condition and the connected instrument. Select a thermocouple type and plug that match the thermometer input.

If an A Series probe already reaches the target and produces stable contact, identify its full code before changing the arrangement. If keeping the head flat is difficult, compare the AX Series contact-support probe and check that its head and shaft can fit the same space.
