Anritsu ST / STN Series Flat Leaf Temperature Probe
Anritsu ST and STN Series flexible flat-leaf temperature probes for surface attachment, narrow spaces and temperature distribution measurement.
- Temperature range: Up to -50°C to 400°C depending on coating and tape length.

The Anritsu ST and STN Series are thin, flexible temperature probes designed for surface attachment, insertion into narrow spaces and temperature measurement of objects with low heat capacity.
The flat tape construction can be fixed to a measurement surface using suitable adhesive tape, allowing the sensing point to remain in position during testing.
Different tape widths, tip shapes, coatings, thermocouple types and lengths are available for low- and high-temperature applications.
The ST Series is supplied as a complete probe with cable and connector, while the STN Series uses a replaceable tape-type sensing element with a dedicated extension cable.

STN is an alternative construction, not a direct replacement for every ST assembly. Confirm the tape connection and extension cable before ordering.

ST Series Flat Leaf Probe
The ST Series combines the sensing tape, lead cable and connector as one complete temperature probe.
It is configurable by tape width and shape, coating, thermocouple type, tape length, cable type, cable length and connector.

Four basic tape constructions are available. Each can be combined with standard or narrow tape widths and either a sharp or flat sensing end.

STN Series Replaceable Flat Leaf Probe
The STN Series uses a replaceable tape-type sensing element. The replaceable sensor connects to a dedicated STN extension cable rather than having a permanent cable attached to every sensing tape.
This arrangement is useful where thin sensing tapes are installed repeatedly or where several replaceable sensing elements are required.
Selected STN sensing elements are supplied in sets of five.

Tolerance calculation: From -40°C upwards, within the selected tape’s operating range, use the greater of ±2.5°C or ±(0.0075 × |t|)°C, where t is the measured temperature in °C.
Measurement conditions: Published tolerance applies to internal-temperature measurement with sufficient heat capacity. Response is measured to 99% of the true value in boiling water or vapour. Surface attachment, contact quality and the target material affect actual performance.
Temperature limits: The sensing-tape rating does not automatically apply to the cable, connection or plug. Keep each component within its own operating limits.

For coating codes 1–4 at -40°C and above, within the permitted operating range, tolerance is the greater of ±2.5°C or ±0.75% of the absolute temperature in °C. ST-25 tolerance is ±2.5°C from -40 to 210°C.
Published tolerance is established under internal-temperature test conditions with sufficient heat capacity. Published response time is the time to reach 99% of the temperature change in boiling water or vapour. Attachment, contact quality and the target material affect practical surface measurements.
Anritsu does not assign a general durability rating for these special-application probes and lists them as non-repairable. STN tape replacement is a feature of its construction, rather than repair of a damaged tape.

Selecting and attaching the probe
Describe the target material, available contact area and how the tape will be secured. The fixing method must suit the surface and temperature without creating an unacceptable delay or disturbing the measurement.
Confirm the thermocouple input and connector on your instrument. Type E and Type K probes require the corresponding input setting and compatible connections.
Selecting an ST or STN Probe
Choose the complete ST probe assembly when you need a sensing tape supplied with its cable and termination. Choose the STN arrangement when replaceable sensing tapes and a compatible extension cable suit your measurement work.
- Measurement point: Describe the surface, material or space where the tape will be positioned.
- Temperature: Include the normal and highest expected temperature.
- Tape: Specify the required shape, coating and length.
- Instrument: Confirm Type K or Type E and the thermometer or data logger model.
- Connection: For STN, identify any extension cable already in use.
