Anritsu SF Series extra-fine flexible temperature probes for internal measurement in liquids, materials and confined locations.
The Anritsu SF Series is a flexible internal temperature probe made from extra-fine thermocouple wire covered with a fluororesin sheath.
Its slim and flexible construction allows the sensing wire to be positioned inside liquids, materials, narrow spaces and locations that are difficult to reach with a conventional rigid temperature probe.
The SF Series is available with Type K or Type E thermocouples and several fine-wire lengths from 500 mm to 2000 mm.

The SF Series uses an extra-fine thermocouple wire with a fluororesin-coated sheath. The flexible construction allows the probe to bend and follow the available measurement space.
This makes it suitable for internal measurements where a rigid stainless-steel probe would be too large, too stiff or difficult to position.
The SF probe does not use a conventional rigid handle and insertion shaft. Instead, the flexible thermocouple section itself is positioned at the required measurement point.

The following model lengths are currently listed for the SF Series. Type E equivalents are also available.
| Type K Model | Type E Equivalent | Fine-Wire Length | Temperature Range |
|---|---|---|---|
| SF-K-050 | SF-E-050 | 500 mm | -50°C to 200°C |
| SF-K-100 | SF-E-100 | 1000 mm | -50°C to 200°C |
| SF-K-150 | SF-E-150 | 1500 mm | -50°C to 200°C |
| SF-K-200 | SF-E-200 | 2000 mm | -50°C to 200°C |
The three-digit section of the SF model number identifies the length of the extra-fine thermocouple section.
| Code | Length |
|---|---|
| 050 | 500 mm |
| 100 | 1000 mm |
| 150 | 1500 mm |
| 200 | 2000 mm |
Select the length according to the distance between the measuring instrument and the required sensing position.
Both Type K and Type E versions are available.
| K | Type K thermocouple |
|---|---|
| E | Type E thermocouple |
The thermocouple type must match the input type of the connected thermometer or temperature indicator.
The SF Series can be supplied with different terminations according to the instrument being used.
| Code | Connection |
|---|---|
| ANP | Miniature thermocouple plug |
| ASP | Anritsu standard plug |
| W | Without plug / wire termination |
A complete SF model can be written in the following format:
SF-K-100-ANP
| Model Section | Meaning |
|---|---|
| SF | Fine Flexible Probe Series |
| K | Type K thermocouple |
| 100 | 1000 mm fine-wire length |
| ANP | Miniature thermocouple plug |
The SF Series is intended for internal temperature measurement where the sensing element needs to be placed inside the material or measurement space.
Because the sensing section is flexible, it can be positioned around obstacles or routed through narrow openings that would not accept a rigid insertion probe.
The flexible wire should be handled carefully and should not be pulled, crushed or repeatedly bent sharply at the same point.
The SF Series has a published response time of approximately 2 seconds.
Anritsu defines probe response time as the time required to detect approximately 99% of the true value under its specified boiling-water or boiling-steam test conditions.
| Measured Temperature | Published Tolerance |
|---|---|
| -50°C to below -40°C | ±3.5°C |
| -40°C to 200°C | ±2.5°C |
| Requirement | SF Series | Rigid Probe |
|---|---|---|
| Flexible routing | Suitable | Limited |
| Narrow access | Suitable | Depends on probe diameter |
| Mechanical strength | Lower | Higher |
| Fixed insertion geometry | Not required | Common |
| Maximum SF operating temperature | 200°C | Depends on probe model |
Confirm the following before selecting the model:
For a 500 mm sensing length select code 050; for 1000 mm select 100; for 1500 mm select 150; and for 2000 mm select 200.
