The Sato digital wind speed and direction monitoring system combines an outdoor propeller-and-vane sensor with a separate indicator. It brings wind information to the monitoring point, helping operators review conditions without visiting the sensor location.
For the configuration described here, select the WVAT6D0-3-00 indicator with the W639-ED1 wind sensor. Define the installation arrangement and required functions before ordering the complete system.

The indicator shows instantaneous and 10-minute mean wind speed. Direction is displayed using 16 compass-point LEDs. Three wind-speed alarm stages can be configured within a setting range of 5 to 90 m/s.
Direction alarm selection: The wind-direction alarm shares the third alarm terminal. It cannot operate alongside the third wind-speed alarm setting.
Optional analogue and RS-422 outputs are available on enquiry. State the receiving equipment and required signals when requesting a quotation; these options should not be assumed to be included.
The earlier information on this page referenced the Sato 7980-S-11 wind speed and direction sensor. Its listed analogue signals differ from those of the W639-ED1 configuration above.
Do not assume direct interchangeability. For a sensor-only or indicator-only replacement, provide photographs of both nameplates, the wiring diagram and the existing signal specifications. The connection, signal scaling and mounting arrangement must be checked before selecting equipment.

The Sato 7980-S-40 tipping bucket rainfall sensor converts collected rainfall into electrical contact pulses for a compatible external recorder or counter. Its stainless steel construction and two-wire connection suit installations requiring rainfall measurement at a separate monitoring point.
