Connecting to a rainfall recorder or counter
Choose receiving equipment that accepts the sensor’s contact signal and supports the correct rainfall scaling. For this configuration, each counted tip represents 0.5 mm of rainfall.
- Total rainfall: Configure the counter to convert accumulated tips into millimetres.
- Rainfall history: Specify a recorder or logger that stores counts over the required time intervals.
- Rainfall intensity: Confirm that the receiving system can calculate a rate from rainfall accumulated over time.
- Alarm requirements: State the rainfall threshold and time period if an external alarm function is required.
Provide the recorder model, input specification and proposed cable length when requesting a system quotation. A temperature-only logger should not be assumed to accept rainfall contact pulses.
Replacing an existing rainfall sensor
Send a photograph of the sensor nameplate and the connected recorder. Include the existing rainfall increment, wiring details and mounting dimensions so compatibility can be reviewed before a replacement is selected.
