Tokico Positive Displacement Oil Flowmeter – Diesel, Heavy Oil & Crude Palm Oil (CPO)

Record oil delivered, transferred or supplied to equipment with a Tokico positive displacement oil flowmeter. A mechanical totaliser provides a local volume reading for operators checking fuel usage, tank transfers and individual deliveries.

The range covers small fuel lines through to larger oil-transfer duties. Selecting the right meter requires the actual flow conditions and oil properties, rather than pipe diameter alone.

Applications for diesel and oil measurement

Use the following model references to identify an existing Tokico FGB, FRO or FRP oil flowmeter. Counter options and ordering codes vary by version. For replacement enquiries, provide the complete nameplate code so the specification can be checked.

FGB models — current and replacement references

Replacing a Tokico FGB-00X flowmeter? The older 00X totalising-counter version has been replaced by 02X. The 04X version provides a reset counter in addition to the totaliser. Send the existing meter's complete model code and nameplate photograph so the replacement specification can be checked.

The FGB references above cover small oil-metering installations. Confirm the required counter version and operating flow range for the actual oil, viscosity and temperature.

FRO models — 40 and 50 mm

These FRO ordering references are retained for identification of existing installations. Send a clear nameplate photograph when requesting a replacement, particularly where the letter O and numeral 0 may be difficult to distinguish.

FRP models — 80 and 100 mm

Different capacity codes are not automatically interchangeable. For example, FRP0845 and FRP0847 share an 80 mm connection size, while FRP1051 and FRP1052 share a 100 mm connection size. Confirm the required capacity and operating conditions before selecting a replacement.

FRA models — 150 mm / 6 inches

The Tokico FRA series covers larger oil-transfer duties. Request the appropriate complete ordering code using the required flow range, oil properties, connection standard and counter arrangement.

How positive displacement measurement works

The measuring chamber and rotors divide the passing liquid into known volumes. Rotor movement drives the counter, allowing the meter to accumulate the volume passing through it.

FGB models use a gear-type mechanism. The roots-type models use paired rotors that rotate without contacting each other, helping reduce rotor wear and pressure loss.

The mechanical totaliser measures accumulated volume. If you also need an instantaneous flow-rate display or electronic integration, specify those functions separately.

Accuracy and operating conditions

Standard accuracy is typically ±0.5% within the specified conditions. Selected configurations offer ±0.2%; this must be confirmed for the required model and application.

The permissible flow range changes with oil viscosity, rotor construction and operating duty. A maximum intermittent rating should not be treated as the continuous operating capacity.

Pressure and temperature limits also vary by model. For heated oils, provide both normal operating and start-up conditions so the meter can be checked across the expected operating cycle.

Crude palm oil and heated-oil enquiries

For crude palm oil (CPO), request an application check before choosing a model. Provide the oil temperature, viscosity at that temperature, expected solids content and minimum start-up temperature.

A meter selected for diesel should not automatically be used for CPO. The measuring element, seals, temperature rating and pressure loss need to suit the actual oil and operating conditions.
