The Ryutai Kogyo MCF metal tube flowmeter and transmitter is a legacy instrument range used for local flow indication and, depending on configuration, remote flow monitoring.

MCF-V, MCF-II and MCF-H are discontinued. Ryutai identifies the EM series metal tube flowmeters and transmitters as the replacement range. The appropriate model must be selected against the existing instrument’s measuring range, construction and installation requirements.

Historical Ryutai Kogyo MCF metal tube flowmeter and transmitter configurations

Historical MCF configurations, shown to help identify existing installations.

Replacing an MCF with the EM series

Start with the complete model code on the nameplate. A replacement needs to match both the measurement task and the available installation space; the same pipe connection size does not establish interchangeability.

Existing modelStatusReplacement direction
MCF-V Discontinued Review an EM-series configuration against the original specification.
MCF-II / MCF-Ⅱ Discontinued Review an EM-series configuration, including flow range and installation dimensions.
MCF-H Discontinued Review an EM-series configuration, including flow direction and piping arrangement.
MCF-SL Listed as discontinued Application review required; the manufacturer’s notice does not identify a direct replacement for this entry.
E-MCF-□□EP2 Listed as discontinued Provide the complete model code, output characteristics and receiving-instrument details.

Available EM constructions and flow ranges differ from the older MCF range. Some previous specifications may not be reproducible. Visit the Ryutai Kogyo EM series product page for current selection information.

Historical E-MCF specifications

The following information is retained from the earlier product listing to help identify installed instruments. These figures describe the historical range and must not be used as the confirmed rating of an individual meter or its replacement.

ParameterHistorical listingReplacement check
Model E-MCF Full model code and function suffix.
Air / steam measuring range 3 to 3,000 m³/h, labelled “NTP” in the earlier listing Confirm the fluid and reference conditions; check steam units separately.
Liquid measuring range 0.1 to 200 m³/h across the listed range Individual scale range, liquid density and viscosity.
Scale units Customisable Required units and full-scale value.
Connection sizes 1/2 to 6 inches Actual pipe connection and face-to-face dimensions.
Connection rating JIS 10K RF flange; other options listed Flange standard, facing, drilling and pressure rating.
Accuracy Within ±1.5% of full scale Applicable indication and electrical-output specifications.
Maximum working temperature Resin: 60°C; metal: 200°C Limits of the selected wetted components, seals and transmitter.
Maximum working pressure 65 bar Actual body and flange rating at the operating temperature; this is not a universal rating for all configurations.
Materials SUS304 standard; titanium, tantalum and other options listed Materials of individual wetted components and fluid compatibility.
Mounting / flow direction Bottom-to-top flow in the earlier listing Actual flow direction and arrangement of the installed model.
Options Microswitch, photo sensor, alarm, analogue/electrical output, cooling fin, jacket and intrinsically safe version Functions fitted to the original instrument and required on the replacement.

Check the signal and receiving equipment

For instruments connected to a PLC, recorder, remote indicator or totaliser, provide the output signal, supply voltage and wiring diagram. Identify any high-flow or low-flow alarm contacts used by the installation.

Matching an output range alone does not confirm compatibility. The replacement specification should also cover wiring, signal scaling, electrical load and any required alarm behaviour.

Information needed for replacement selection

  • Instrument identification: Complete MCF or E-MCF model code and nameplate photograph.
  • Flow range: Dial scale, measurement units and minimum, normal and maximum operating flow.
  • Fluid: Liquid, gas or steam details, including density and viscosity where relevant.
  • Operating conditions: Normal and maximum temperature and pressure.
  • Installation: Connection standard, pipe size, face-to-face dimensions and flow direction.
  • Electrical functions: Power supply, output signal, receiving equipment and alarm requirements.
  • Documentation: Calibration, material certification or hazardous-area requirements.
