The Sato SK-8950 waterproof infrared thermometer provides non-contact surface temperature measurement for routine equipment checks and production inspections. With a range of -60 to 550°C, it allows operators to check cold and hot surfaces using one handheld instrument.
The SK-8950 measures an area rather than a single point. Its approximately 12:1 distance-to-spot ratio gives a measurement spot about 50 mm in diameter at a distance of 600 mm. Keep the target larger than the measuring spot to avoid including the surrounding surface in the reading.
The circular laser is an aiming aid. The laser circle and actual measuring area fully overlap at a measurement distance of 2,000 mm; their relationship changes at other distances.

For repeatable inspection routines, consider the target material, working distance and size of the surface being checked. Set the emissivity for the material and use a consistent measurement position when comparing readings over time.
Infrared measurement indicates surface temperature. Where the task requires an internal or core temperature, select an appropriate contact probe instead.
