EDL Ultra Bath Stirred Liquid Temperature Calibrator
The EDL Ultra Bath series is designed for comparison calibration of temperature sensors in a stable, stirred liquid environment.
Three models cover temperatures from -40°C to 550°C. The large 42-litre bath and 18-inch tank depth allow multiple temperature sensors to be immersed and compared during the same calibration run.
The Ultra Bath can accommodate different probe shapes and diameters, making it suitable for laboratory and calibration work involving RTDs, PRTs, SPRTs, bi-metal thermometers, liquid-in-glass thermometers and other insertion-type temperature sensors.

Large 42-Litre Calibration Bath
The Ultra Bath provides a large working volume for comparison calibration of several temperature sensors at the same time.
Its 45.72 cm (18") internal depth provides useful immersion length for long probes, while the 12.70 × 27.94 cm opening gives sufficient working space for different sensor diameters and configurations.
A pumped stirring system circulates the bath medium continuously to maintain consistent temperature conditions around the immersed sensors.
Temperature Sensor Calibration
The Ultra Bath can be used with a wide range of insertion temperature instruments, including:
- Resistance temperature detectors (RTDs)
- Platinum resistance thermometers (PRTs)
- Standard platinum resistance thermometers (SPRTs)
- Bi-metal thermometers
- Liquid-in-glass thermometers
- Industrial temperature probes
- Temperature sensors with different sheath diameters and shapes
UB-4010
The UB-4010 covers temperatures from -40°C to 100°C and uses silicone oil as the stirred bath medium.
It is the low-temperature model in the Ultra Bath series and is suitable where calibration points extend below ambient temperature.

Comparison Calibration
A stirred liquid bath provides a common temperature environment for the reference thermometer and the sensors being checked.
The instruments are immersed to the required depth and allowed to stabilise before their readings are compared with the reference measurement.
The large Ultra Bath working volume is particularly useful where several sensors need to be checked at the same temperature point.
Typical Applications
- Temperature calibration laboratories
- Quality assurance departments
- Instrument calibration and maintenance
- RTD and PRT comparison calibration
- Thermometer verification
- Process temperature sensor checks
- Multi-probe comparison calibration
Selecting the Correct Ultra Bath
Start with the lowest and highest calibration temperatures required. Choose a model whose operating range covers all intended calibration points.
Also consider the type and quantity of sensors, probe insertion length, sheath diameter and the bath medium required for the operating temperature.
| Requirement | Model |
| Calibration below ambient temperature |
UB-4010 |
| General mid-temperature calibration up to 200°C |
UB-1020 |
| High-temperature calibration from 200°C to 550°C |
UB-2050 |
