The SK-500B measures atmospheric pressure. It is not a differential-pressure instrument for comparing two rooms, and its pressure port should not be treated as a general-purpose connection for compressed air, liquids or process gases.

Resolution and accuracy: The 0.01 hPa display increment helps show small changes, but it does not mean the instrument is accurate to ±0.01 hPa. Use the accuracy specification and calibration results when assessing suitability for a measurement procedure.
PC recording, graphs and CSV files
Sato’s dedicated software displays measurements as a live graph and saves acquired data in CSV format. The instrument communicates through RS-232C; connection to a USB port uses the appropriate USB-to-serial adapter and driver.
For a new installation, confirm the software version, Windows environment and cable compatibility before commissioning. Plan for the PC to remain connected and running during the required recording period.

Measurement functions and alarm outputs
MAX and MIN help review the highest and lowest readings, while AVG provides a moving average. REL displays a value relative to a selected reference. Choose the function that matches the observation you need to make.
Upper and lower alarm thresholds can be set separately. Contact outputs allow connection to a suitable external warning device, such as a buzzer or indicator light. Check the electrical ratings and connection instructions when specifying the external alarm arrangement.

When ordering paper for an existing printer, provide its model or catalogue number. This helps confirm compatibility where an older printer is already in service.
Installation and comparison of readings
Install the barometer horizontally on a stable indoor surface. Keep it away from vibration, direct airflow, sunlight, heat sources and splashing water. Allow the instrument to settle to the room conditions before taking comparison measurements.
Atmospheric pressure changes with elevation. A reading taken at the instrument’s location may therefore differ from a weather service value corrected to sea level. Compare readings on the same pressure basis and account for differences in measurement height.
The instrument’s reference height is the centre of its rear pressure port. Include this reference when setting up a comparison with another barometer.
