Palmer Wahl 8″ & 12″ Pressure and Temperature Chart Recorders

Palmer Wahl pressure and temperature chart recorders provide a paper record of measurements over time. Choose an 8-inch or 12-inch recorder with an aluminium or Pelican® case, configured for pressure, temperature or combined recording.

Recording options: Up to three pens, depending on configuration.
Chart drives: Battery-operated, with spring-wound and electric options available.
Installation: Portable and fixed-mount configurations.

Create a paper record of pressure or temperature throughout a test or operating period. Palmer Wahl circular chart recorders are available in 8-inch and 12-inch models, with aluminium and Pelican® case options for different installation requirements.

Each recorder is configured to order. Select the measurement ranges, number of recording pens, chart drive and mounting arrangement to match your application.

Aluminium or Pelican Case?

Pedestal mounting is not available for combined pressure-temperature recorders in the aluminium range. Check mounting dimensions and connection positions against the installation space.

Specify the Pressure Range and Connection

For a pressure recorder, provide the normal operating pressure, maximum test pressure and required chart units. Also identify the process medium and connection arrangement so the pressure element and fittings can be selected appropriately.

The catalogue lists pressure ranges in units including PSI, bar and kPa. Connection requirements vary with the selected pressure range; high-pressure configurations require suitable high-pressure fittings.

When replacing an existing recorder, send a photograph of its nameplate and a sample chart. Include the existing connection size and thread type to help identify the required replacement configuration.

Temperature and Combined Recording

If temperature recording is required, specify the measurement range, sensing-bulb arrangement and capillary length. For combined recording, identify which measurement is required on each pen.

Consider the distance between the measurement point and the recorder, the available mounting space and how the sensing element will connect to the process.

Match the Chart Drive to the Recording Period

Choose the chart rotation period around the test duration or reporting interval. A short test and a week-long operating record require different time scales.

Battery-operated multi-speed drives are available. Spring-wound alternatives and special-order electric drives provide additional options. Confirm the selected drive's available speeds and use chart paper with the matching time scale and measurement range.

Planning a Pressure-Test Record

When specifying a chart recorder for hydrostatic testing or another pressure-test procedure, include the required pressure range, test duration and acceptance criteria in your enquiry.

Agree on chart identification, calibration documentation and how the completed record will be reviewed. These details help ensure the recorder configuration suits the required test documentation.

Replacement Charts and Pens

Include spare chart paper and pens with your equipment enquiry. Matching consumables requires more than the recorder size: provide the chart reference, measurement scale and rotation period.

For an existing instrument, a clear photograph of the chart and pen arrangement helps identify suitable consumables.
